My son, 15 yo, participated in this program last semester and this summer and it was wonderful. The program offers our hs’ers an opportunity to teach, mentor and lead. Plus, he got to go visit a different animal each week with the class!!
Planning is now underway for the Fall Weekday Volunteen Program here at the Fort Worth Zoo!
If you know a Homeschooled Teen between the ages of 12 and 17 who would like to Volunteer with the Fort Worth Zoo Education department this fall, please attend a brief orientation meeting either:
Thursday, July 8 from 10:30 to 11:30am
or
Tuesday, July 13 from 6pm to 7pm.
Meetings will be held in the Lupton Education building (when entering the main parking lot, the education building is located behind the cabana to the far right of the main ticket booth – across the bridge)
You do not need to RSVP for either meeting, simply come as you are. Parents and teens will need to attend together.
Program and application information will be provided at the meetings.
I really hope everyone considers this opportunity. It only took 3+ hours a week and they gain so much from it as well as meet new animals and other hs’ers.
How’s everyone’s planning for next school year going?
